Here is how to enter the pin:
FEDERAL TAXES tab.
Then subtab "Other Tax Situations."
Scroll down to "Other Return Info".
Find subtopic "Identity Protection PIN", and click START.
Current Online version does NOT display a field for entering the Dependent's IP Pin... it only shows a field for entering the primary filer's IP Pin. So if the primary filer does NOT have a IP Pin but a dependent does... you cannot e-file. You will have to file by mail.
This is the new route: Within the Federal area: Personal > Other Tax Situations > Other Return Info > Identity Protection PIN. Directions could be better.
This year's version is fixed (2017). It is now possible to enter dependent PIN from the Other Tax Situations section.
