I'm trying to allocate 1099-DIV exempt interest to multiple states and receive error that total entered doesn't add to Box 11, even though it does. Any suggestions?

Look at the total at the top of the page where you make the break-out, to make sure that number is correct too.

 

Then use even $$ amounts just in case there are rounding errors with cents.

 

(if there are cents in box 11, just enter the cents for only one of the entries during the break-out page entries)

2) what is your state, and each of your break-out values?
