I'm still legally married but have been filing single for years. I'm in the process of a simple divorce. Should I file differently?

You should not have been filing single if you were still legally married. You should have been filing married filing separately. If you were still legally married on Dec. 31, 2016, you would still file married filing separately for 2016.
