I'm purchasing a new home, escrow done on 2/26/18. I changed my withholding status to married and 5, the wife also. Is this ok to do?

it depends - You are able to change your withholding information with your employer based on your specific circumstances. Therefore if you are married, both spouses can change the withholding status to include your new spouse and if you have 5 dependents (in addition to your spouse) then you both can also change the information to include all the five dependents.
