Hello there, I'm trying to help my friend incarcerated file his taxes and potentially receive his noncollected stimulus checks. And if you know how, looking up exactly which stimulus check he has not yet collected? I would simply file for all of them ... first 2 on the 2020 return and the third on the 2021 return and the IRS will figure it out automatically.
Also note that you must either (1) have a Power of Attorney for this person, or (2) print the return, have them sign it with a pen, and then file it by mail. But note that mailed returns can take 6 months to process.
