I'm currently unemployed. Do I file my taxes as employed or unemployed?

Just lost my job a couple of weeks ago. How do I proceed with my taxes? Thank you

The IRS does not use "occupation" for anything that affects your refund or tax due.   They only use it for statistical purposes.   You can enter the job you had while employed if you want to for occupation.   There is no other place on a tax return to say you were employed or that you are unemployed.

You don't file as either of those.  You file as Single or Married.  You file the income you got.  You will get a W2 for your 2024 wages and a 1099G if you get unemployment.  And any other 1099 like for bank interest or IRA or 401k distributions, etc.

For occupation use the one in which you had income.
