I'm a private investigator. I had to buy a vehicle and make repairs in order to work.

How can I right this off

If you are self-employed, you can deduct the cost of vehicle expenses that are ordinary and necessary for your work.

You can either deduct the actual costs of operating the vehicle, including depreciation applicable to the purchase price, or take a standard mileage allowance applicable to the business miles driven ($0.67 per mile in 2024). You will see an option to enter Business Vehicle Expenses in the Business Expenses section of TurboTax.
