I live in a federally declared disaster area - can I e-file now and then just pay by May 15?

I live in one of the counties in California listed here, so the deadline to file and pay taxes got extended to May 15, 2023. I will owe taxes to the Federal government for 2022. I won't owe any under payment penalty though.

Can I e-file now, and then pay the amount due on May 15, 2023 (using my credit card on pay1040.com)? I'm wondering if there's any form that I need to include in my taxes or if IRS will automatically consider my payment made on May 15 to be on time.

Yes, you can wait until May 15 to pay the amount due. This IRS News Release includes information about the extended period until May 15 for the federally declared disaster area.

"The tax relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred starting on January 8, 2023. As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until May 15, 2023, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period".
