I just want someone to talk to. Just found out my son has rejected tax filing from last year and we are trying to do his FAFSA right now. I need help fixing this.

How do I get someone to talk to that is a person? Good grief. I need help desparately.

If your son's 2023 e-file was rejected and he did not notice -- did not fix the return and re-file it--- then the only way to file it now is by mail.    E-filing is closed permanently for 2023 returns.   His return can be printed, signed and dated in ink, and he can mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
