I just got an email saying my return has been accessed. What does that mean?

I just downloaded a PDF. Would that cause such a message? What if someone accessed it at the same time? I think a thoughtful response is in order.

Please reread the email.  It should say that your return was accepted, not accessed.  Accepted means that the IRS has received it with no obvious errors at this time.  It will be processed as filed.

You will get this email when you download your return, especially if you access your account from a new device. This is a safeguard built into TurboTax.

Yep...every time you download your tax return PDF or datafile.
