Once you open TurboTax, you should select the question "Want More Time To File This Year?", to file an extension. If you already started a return it will include an option to extend an existing return and another option if you have not started a return.
You should follow the TurboTax instructions to complete requesting an extension.
It asks you to print the Form 4868 and mail it. I dont see anything to file electronically.

I brought Turbo Tax Deluxe download from Amazon. Today is 4/16/2023 and I am filing an extension as well. It does not allow me to e-file, It only gives the option to mail. I use the same program every year, but this year it doesn't give the option to e-file. HELP! What am I doing wrong.

Thats what I ended up doing last month. You cant file an extension using desktop software. I entered some fake info on the TurboTax website which did allow me to file an extension.
