I installed ADT and security cameras in my house. Can I take them off my taxes?

Per the IRS, security systems used solely to protect a home are not deductible. Therefore, in this instance, you cannot deduct the cost of installation and monitoring associated with your home security system.

For more information, please click this IRS link, List of Nondeductible Expenses: https://www.irs.gov/publications/p529/ar02.html

However, per the IRS, you may be able to claim a deduction for a home security system as a business expense if you have a home office.
