His mother, Him, & MySelf recognize me. I filed last 3 years with him as my dependent. He just moved for an address for school in October. The guy that owns the house files first day on Jan 27th w/ the goal of undercutting the child credit from me. I have sole custody, that’s just a convenient address for school. mAYBE, IF he stays there all year in 2020 he can file next year, but He certainly is not entitled to this year. Custody address is my address, his health insurance is with me here. He and his mother recognize me as HofHHold. How can I report & stop this guy?
You should go ahead and prepare your return showing your son as your dependent assuming he still qualifies as being a dependent.
If you get an electronic filing rejection code, go ahead and print the return and mail it in. The IRS may delay any refund while it attempts to verify who is entitled to the deduction.
In the meantime, you can also contact the IRS to report the suspected tax fraud. See the following link on instructions on how to report the questionable activity.
