I have short term disability that is included on my regular W-2 from my employer, plus I also got a separate W-2 from the STD company. Do I need to enter the extra W-2?

My regular W-2 has a line for "Plus Third Party Sick Pay" in the blue Earnings Summary, so the amount is included in the amount for box 1 (Wages, tips, other comp.). But the separate W-2 I received from United of Omaha doesn't show any Federal income tax withheld (it does show Social Security tax and Medicare tax were withheld). When going through the steps in Turbotax for the main W-2 I checked the box to indicate that I "earned some or part of this income through paid family leave" but then there were no additional questions about that. It seems that adding the additional W-2 will artificially increase my reported income, if it's already included in box 1 from my main W-2.

You MUST enter that W-2 if there is an amount in box 1 even if there was no taxes withheld ... it is still taxable income that must be reported.

But it's already reported on my main W-2. Adding it from the separate W-2 will artificially increase my income.

The IRS gets both forms and will expect both forms on your return ... if you believe one to be incorrect or issued in error please contact the issuers.

I have a similar situation for 2018 for a w2 wife wife received for maternity leave benefits.  What ended up happening?

I ended up not entering the additional W-2 because it made no sense to have it counted twice and result in me being double taxed on that amount.

I'm in the same boat. You said you didn't report the additional W2 since it was already on your employer W2. Was everything fine? No letter from IRS?
