I have been product testing in 2020, I pay for a product and get a payment from the company through PayPal. I now have a 1099K from Paypal. but it is not self-employment.

I put the 1099K into TurboTax and it cut my refund in half, I want to make sure I am getting the right form before submitting my taxes. I know a 1099K is for self-employment but me getting paid for products shouldn't count for self-employment because I am not making money, just getting paid back. Please help!

You would have to enter it on Schedule C but you can expense out what you paid to come to zero. Simply list it as a supply.
