I have an essential plan through the New York State of Health marketplace. I do not receive a tax credit for the plan, so they will not be sending me a 1095-A.

How do I precede filing through Turbotax, seeing as it wants me to enter info. from a 1095-A that I do not have nor will be receiving?

I recommend choosing that I had insurance all year, and that I did have a state marketplace plan. I would check New York State Medicaid or Child Health Plus , because even though those are not what your plan is named, if you click the Learn More section, it says:

Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are programs that provide free or low-cost health care coverage based on your household size, income, and other factors, like age and disability. Both programs are jointly run by federal and state governments.

You should not receive a 1095-A if you had a Medicaid or CHIP plan, but you may receive a 1095-B, a form titled Health Coverage. The IRS does not need any details from this form. You can keep it for your records.

This describes the Essential plans, which do the very same thing: provide free or low-cost health care coverage, and do not issue you a 1095-A.

If you do this, you will not have to provide any additional information.

Hi,

I have a follow up question to this thread. I had the essentials plan for 3 months June-August, 2020 and a high cost plan the other months of 2020. I have 2 1095As that I can report on my return. What should I do so the other three months are accounted for when I was on a low-cost essentials plan?

Thank you so much
