I received a W2 from a former employer with only boxes 12a and 14 filled in. 12a is for cost of coverage under an employer-sponsored group health plan, and box 14 says MAPFML with an amount of $0.14. Turbo Tax is telling me I must file by mail because of the lack of wages from this W2, if anyone has other advice or can explain further it would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
For the workaround, you can try to enter a dollar in box 1 to pass the error message. Technically, without a wage amount and withholding, there should not be any impact on your taxes. However, as box 12 a is for the pre-tax 401k contribution which you might qualify for a retirement savers credit if you meet the requirements. For more information, click here: Savers credit
Box 14 is only for information only. For MA paid family leave, click here: MAPFML
