I have a new heating and air system i installed in my primary residence home in 2016. is this improvement considered construction to my main home?

With regard to the home energy credit, the question about construction of your main home refers to when the home was being built from the ground up. 

If you were replacing a heating and air system that already existed in your home, then it is not related to the construction of your home.
