I have a military PCS coming up and I want to purchase a trailer to do my own Personal procured Move (PPM). Can I write off cost of trailer for my move next years taxes

I will be storing HHG items in this storage trailer afterwards.

Although the cost of transporting your goods is deductible since it is associated with your military move, the trailer would be considered a personal asset since you retain ownership of it afterwards. Furthermore, you aren't allowed to deduct the cost of storing your things for an extended period of time. So, it is not likely the IRS would allow the deduction as a moving expense.
