I have a full time day job, and a DBA on the side, the side job had zero income last year. Do I still file a return for that zero gain with my full time job?

No, if your DBA had less than $400 of income, you do not need to file a tax return claiming this income.

If you have qualifying business expenses you wish to report, you can file a tax return even if there was no income, but that is your choice.
