I have a child that I have notarized guardianship of...I want to upload my document so that the biological mother does not claim her AGAIN. How do I do this or how can I keep from her claiming her bio

How can I claim a child that I have been legally caring for and lives in my home for 7 years

If someone else claims the child before you are able to, you will have to file your income tax return by mail so that the IRS will make the determination as to who can rightfully claim the child as a dependent.

It would be best if you have your income tax return prepared and filed before February 12, 2021 so that it will be ready to get accepted by the IRS on February 12.

Here is how you add a dependent:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax, if you aren't already in it.
  2. Select My Info in the left navigation.
  3. Select the Add a dependent button if you need to add someone. Select the trash can icon next to the name of a dependent to remove them (we'll ask you to confirm removing them before we take them off your return).
