I had over100k in losses from options trading this year. Can I carryback these losses against gains in 2018 and 2019 via COVID CARES act? I already filed 2019 tax return

I want to carryback my losses from this year to offset gains from 2019 and 2018.  I read that this is a special allowance due to COVID relief.  How can I do this and what forms do I need?

what type of options? there are future options and stock options.  also how are they handled on your return schedule C income/loss or capital gain/loss?

the CARES ACT only provides for NOL carryback.

a trader who made a 475(f) election would treat the gains and losses as ordinary income.  however, the person must be able to show they are a trader and make the election by the due date of the previous (in your case 2019) return.

losses on section 1256 contracts can be carried back 3 years.
