I had an initial price of $39. Then when I went to file, it was $79. Just wondering where the extra $40 came from?

Did you choose to pay the $39 from your federal refund instead of paying with a credit or debit card before you filed?  You agreed to an EXTRA $40 "refund processing fee" to allow a third party bank to receive your refund from the IRS, take out the $39 you owe TurboTax, and send the rest of the refund to you.

Did you already e-file?  If so, it is too late to avoid that fee.  If you did not file......you can still remove it and pay upfront.

Or it is for a state return.   Federal and state are separate charges.  Each are $39 right now.
