I have already updated my legal name with the SSA, and I have updated my W4 with my new name as well as my new filing status, "Single". I have updated my profile with Turbo Tax/Intuit with my new legal name, however when I log in and the screen for "Let's gets started" pops up for the 2024 taxes, my old name is listed and of course it is still showing my previous tax filing of "Married filing Single" from the 2023 filing season. I just want to ensure I will be able to change my name and my filing status during the 2024 tax preparation process.
If you used to file joint returns before the divorce, then you need a new account and new user ID, because it is too messy and difficult to remove the "spouse stuff" from an old account. I think you might mean you used to file "married filing separately" since there is no such thing as "married filing single." You *might* be able to continue to use that old account if you go in to MY INFO and change the way you answer the question to "were you married...."
But if you start getting errors as you continue to work, you would be better to start a new account.

Oh jeez, yes, last year (2023 taxes), I filed “married filing separately” as I was still married in 2023. So I did create my own account to file 2023 returns, so the current account I have now, is my own and does not include any past “joint” returns with my ex-husband. So I presume I’ll be asked for updated data then as I move forward with my 2024 returns?
You have to go into MY INFO and click your name and make all of the necessary edits to your name, address, marital status, etc.
