I got a W2 for 2021 for a company I did not work for since 2020

I got two W2s from my employer this year, one from the parent company I worked for since Nov 2021.

I left the other company in March 2020 and did not work for them since then. I got a W2 from each with box 12DD showing the same amount in each field, but the W2 for the company I haven't worked for since 2020 was otherwise blank. The problem is Turbotax WILL NOT allow me to e-file with this setup!

Can I just drop that one W2 and file without it? Any advice here is welcomed. I don't understand a) why they sent one from the old company and b) why they populated that value. They didn't pay anymore or any extra health insurance amount in that box.

The W-2 for 2020 with only an entry in Box 12 Code DD does not have to be reported on your 2021 tax return.  It appears that the employer sent you the W-2 so that you have a record of how much the employer paid for your medical insurance.

You only need to report the W-2 for 2021, just keep the 2020 W-2 in your tax records.

Strangely enough. The W2 shows 2021, even though I did not work there since 2020. They sent me a separate one for 2021 where I worked under the umbrella of the parent company (two sister companies under  a parent big one) with two employer ID numbers. So in essence, I got two for 2021, one from the company I last worked in 2020, and one that I actually did work at in 2021. BOTH showed the same amount for Box 12DD. That's why I wondered if I had to submit both.

Box 12 does not have a taxable value to you so it is not included. Tuck the form in with your other tax records.
