I got a reject code IND-996. I am SURE I put in the correct IP PIN for myself and my spouse. Does my daughter also need an IP Pin? She doesn't have an I.D.

If a dependent or qualifying person listed on your return has ever received an IP PIN, a CP01A, or opted into the IRS's IP PIN pilot program, that person's 6-digit IP PIN needs to be on the return to validate their identity for e-filing. The IRS will send you a CP01A notice with your new IP PIN by early January of 2022. That's the one you'll need to file your 2021 return. For more information please click the link below.

There are a lot of us having this rejection code- and none of us Have an IP Pin! The irs site is down - after signing up for an IDMe account- (big pain in the neck) and then trying to “get up pin now” site is down. Call the IRS Ip-pin number and they aren’t accepting calls. Contact turbo tax x’4 which were absolutely no help. Waited on regular IRS call for hour and 15 minutes, only to have them verify what I already knew- NO ONE including my dependents have an ID flag, or IP-Pin! She said many turbo tax customers have called on this issue this year and suggested I pay elsewhere to use their software on top of already gotten shelling out $186 to TT! What the heck?
