I first e-filed my federal tax with TT, without e-filing my State tax. I am now trying to e-file my New York Tax but it won't allow me to do that. Why?

TT says that I should either e-file my Federal return now or e-File my Federal tax later. When I select the former it (correctly) says that this would be a duplicate of a past e-filing, and when I select e-filing the Federal later and the New York Tax now, it says that this is not possible as the Federal Tax need to be filed first before the State Tax. catch 22. what to do?

You will have to wait until your Federal tax return has been accepted before you can e-file your state tax return. Please see this Help Article for more information.
