I filed my return on accident with two tax preparers

I filed to returns on accident my federal and my state were accepted for one and rejected for the other. I definitely am not trying to claim two sets of taxes but now I have a letter stating that state tax needs more information. Could anybody possibly tell me what it could be will I get in trouble or will it delay my taxes,

Fortunately, only your first submission will be accepted by the IRS and your State.  Any subsequent filings are kicked out and not processed.

If you received a letter from your State, it should list in detail what information they are requesting.  In my experience, the thing they request most is a copy of your W2's.  If you are unsure what they need, you can give them a call: How do I contact my State Department of Revenue?  Your state refund will most likely be delayed until you get them the requested information.

Please note, if there is a W2 or other income that wasn't reported on your accepted returns, you will need to update them by Amending your returns.  See this TurboTax guide for more information: How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS.
