I filed my federal taxes once and it was accepted, but my state was rejected. I added a W2 I forgot, will I be penalized for filing this again

I forgot to add the W2 before, I added it when it’s letting me refile. Will I be penalized or owe money if my return amount is less than last time

Did you amend your federal return to add the additional W-2 Form? Did you just add the W-2 and submit your e-file for your rejected state return?

Please provide more information so we can help you with that.

You're not going to be penalized,  but your refund or balance due may change.

I filed my taxes initially. The federal return was accepted but my state return was rejected. I had clicked into the email saying I needed to fix the mistakes on the state return in order to file it. I forgot I had my other W2 to add, but I did not amend my initial return. When I clicked the fixing my state return it had me refill out the whole federal and state return. Does this mean I need to amend it before I fill it out, or can I just add the W2 and send it? I already received my federal return, which is larger than the return they say I will get back now. Do I have to return the difference?

If you already received your federal refund, yes, you need to amend the 1040, on Form 1040X.

Yes, if you owe more money now that you have included the missing W-2, you'll need to pay back the difference to the IRS.
