I filed an injured spouse claim. My transcript says first code 898 "refund applied to non irs debt" then it says code 766 "removed refund applied to non irs debt"

Husband owes child support but had no income because he is disabled. So I filed an injured spouse claim. My transcript says refund issued on March 7th. Then it says code 898 "refund applied to non irs debt". Dated 3/19/2018... which isn' here yet. Then it says code 766 "removed refund applied to non irs debt" dated also 3/19/2018 and shows a credit to my account.  Then it says code 290 "additional tax assessed" dated 3/26/2018. Then it says code 846 "refund issued" dated 3/16/2018. Mine is coming as a check. So what is the code 766? Is that because u filed injured spouse claim? Does that mean I'm still getting my refund? Super confused. Mind you, this is from last year' return! I' still waiting for it!!!!

Yes, the good news is you are getting a refund.

There will be a notice issued to you on March 26th, which will be a letter explaining that refund is coming, and there is interest on the refund that the IRS is paying to you due to 2016 return.

IRS has to manually do the innocent spouse claims and that is why you first see it applied to non-tax debt and then later removed.

The refund is coming, it is taking IRS longer to do some things, however, the good news is the transcript shows yours is being taken care of correctly.

I cannot give you an exact date when you will get the money, however, it appears it will be by end of the month.

@alicat1580 Im in the same situation. Did you ever get your refund? I should be getting my whole refund because my husband didn’t work or earn money. Did you receive your whole refund back? I’m stressing out!
