I filed 2018 tax using CD version. How do I import 2018 tax data into 2019 online version? There are schedule E information I need to carry over.

Actually it IS possible--if you still have the *.tax2018 data file.

 

  • Open your 2019 online return.
  • Once it is open, go to the left menu column and click on TAX TOOLS, then TOOLS.
  • In the Tools window, choose "Transfer last year's TurboTax return from your computer."
  • It will ask "Are you sure?" since it will have to clear your started online return in order to transfer.
  • When you say "yes" to continue, it will then ask you for the location of the *.tax2018 data file on your computer, and then will upload it to transfer it into a new 2019 online return.
