I entered everything correctly for HSA - Im HOH w 2 dependents, contributed a little over $4000 but $6900 allowed - says I'm over by $275. I've checked for correct input.

I believe that Turbo tax is calculating me as a single person BUT I have 2 dependents and I'm HOH

The determination of whether you over funded the HSA is not based on your filing status, but is based on whether you marked that you had a family HDHP (high deductible health plan) for the full year.  Go back to the Medical section of TurboTax related to your HSA entry and continue through the screens until you are asked about contributions and then a screen where you are asked if you were covered by a HDHP, and then what type of HDHP.  Make sure that the Family Plan option is marked. See a sample screenshot below:

Below are steps to be brought back to the HSA entry section of TurboTax:

  1. Open (continue) your return in TurboTax, if you don't already have it open.
  2. From the upper right menu, search for 1099-sa or 1099sa (don't use the upper-case SA).
  3. Select the Jump to link at the top of the search results.

I spent a hour on the phone with a TurboTax specialist and she couldn't figure out what was wrong either. IT IS ALL ENTERED CORRECTLY. I am now waiting for a Specialist for the Specialist to call me. I am stuck in the process. :o(
