I ended up making less than I estimated when signing up for health insurance but now it's saying that I owe some aptc back, how is this possible?

I had to go on a medical leave absence in 2022 for almost 6 months, I was only paid 60% of my pay. But now in putting my numbers on my return, I'm being told that I owe some of the aptc back I don't understand why that would be since I overestimated my income

we can't see your return and specifically the 8962 or the 1095-A. so the first thing to do is check your entries.

if there are no corrections contact support. you can allow them to see your return.

If you didn’t estimate your income correctly and the government paid out more than your actual credit value, then you must repay some of your credit.  If that is not the case for you, since you indicated that you made less than you estimated, double check the entries from your 1095-A.
