I am wondering if there was a problem with my return, although I have not received any notifications to that effect
State and local tax returns for tax year 2024 cannot be e-filed if the federal tax return for 2024 has not been e-filed.
I filed both Federal and State returns this morning (acceptance of both is pending). However, when i log in to look at status I am prompted by TurboTax to begin the process to file although my status shows "pending acceptance" and I have hard copies of returns. Is this just some 'glitch'? I had not been notified of any issues with my returns
Even if Turbo Tax let you efile the IRS and states won't be Accepting or Rejecting them until late January. Until then the returns will just sit on Turbo Tax servers and you can't get it back to fix. That's why you should not file too early in case you need to add a form or change something since you might not have received your W2s and 1099s yet.
Issue has resolved, not sure what happened but it appears to be just fine now (status still pending of course but forms are complete and waiting for State and Fed to do their thing. Oh, I got my W2 this morning so all is good there. Tax time just always gives me anxiety.
