I efiled federal return via turbotax. IRS says the return was received incomplete. Given all the problems updating in order to efile, what could the IRS's problem be?

Did the letter from the IRS happen to say what was missing?

No letter, based on a phone to IRS call after 30 days they "discovered" return in some kind of "incomplete filing"  file they have and say they will let me  know in 30 to 60 days what is "missing". Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I know there is nothing that can be done to speed them along. I have checked the return and do not find any errors.

I recommend contacting the IRS again, 1-800-829-1040, available 7 AM - 7 PM Monday through Friday Eastern Time to ask a different agent for an explanation. Be sure to have your tax return details in hand.

 

You can also go to IRS Get Transcript to request a Record of Account type of transcript. It may provide more detail while you are waiting for further correspondence.
