I earned $4362 as a landscaper on a 1099-MISC. Turbo tax gave me a standard deduction of $4404. Why do I still owe a federal tax of $616?

Your work as a landscaper paid on a 1099-Misc is considered self-employment.  You will file a Schedule C and will owe self-employment tax.  You don't owe regular income tax on what you made, but you must pay the self-employment tax.
