I e-filed and PAID by CC. My return was pending then rejected. When I go back to file by mail (only option) TTax asks me to pay again!?

Is the IRS going to send me a letter saying I never paid and now owe a penalty plus the tax due? How do they know the payment was made (tied to my return). Will I need to send them proof at some point?

If you attempted to e-file your return and it was rejected, the IRS never received the return to process the payment. Your credit card will not be charged. You will need to send payment with your mailed return.

My credit card 'was' charged and that is what I am asking about. The e-file return was rejected but the charge was approved and put on my card. I subsequently filed the return by mail but TTax asked me to pay a second time! I am not really looking for an answer from the community here, I know what is likely to happen, I was hoping to talk to Intuit.

I’m having the same issue. Did the pending payment eventually drop off from your CC?
