I didn't defer any Social Security Taxes last year. Why does Turbo Tax tell me I'm getting a W2-c? Did I enter something incorrectly?

No, you probably don't have a problem but let's double check. Look at your w2. Box 3 plus box 7 = $$$$ multiply that times 0.062 =  close to box 4,  then life is good.

The program is having a little trouble with executive ordering and the deferral allowed of Social Security taxes. Plus, sometimes the numbers will round and throw the computer off. If it is near box 4, life is good.

Thank you so much --  the total is spot on the number in Box 4!

But what if it doesn't add up??!  Box 3 + box 7 (0) x .062 = $1600 off (rounded, actual is 1598.21966).  Should I be worried?

The tax expert who answered my question told me the program was having a little trouble with executive ordering and the deferral allowed of Social Security taxes.  They went on to say that sometimes the numbers will round and throw the computer off.   If it is near box 4, life is good.

So, the message I took away was as long as your total is close to box 4,  then no worries.  If your total is nowhere close to the number in box 4, I would contact a tax expert thru Turbo Tax.
