I'd like to pay my taxes with a debit card. I thought the fee was a flat $2.95 fee but when I get to the form, it says it's adding the convenience fee of 2.49%. Fix?

How do I make sure it wont add 2.49% (that it's run as a debit card not credit card)?

There is a convenience fee (charged by a third-party payment processor) for paying your taxes with a credit or debit card. It is not a flat fee of $2.95. However, if you plan to pay your taxes with your debit card, consider IRS Direct Pay, which is free.

You can also pay by check or money order and send it in the mail before the due date of the return. If you pay by check or money order, please write your social security number on your method of payment and send it with the voucher that prints out with a copy of your return.

If you choose to mail in your payment, the deadline to do so is Monday, April 18, 2022, for most taxpayers. The due date is April 18, instead of April 15, because of the Emancipation Day holiday in the District of Columbia for everyone except taxpayers who live in Maine or Massachusetts. Taxpayers in Maine or Massachusetts have until April 19, 2022, to file their returns due to the Patriots' Day holiday in those states.
