I claimed two dependendants but only got the stimulus for one, why is that?

While I can't answer that specifically because it is figured out by the IRS, here is what I do know.

only dependents under the age of 17 are eligible for the stimulus

regardless, the 2020 tax return reconciles what you are due, based on your 2020 filings, dependents under 17 and income LESS what you received on the two stimulus payments.  If the answer is less than zero, you do not have to return the remaining money.

That remainder is what you are owed and it will be a credit on Line 30 of Form 1040; it will increase your refund (or reduce what you owe)

does that help

Both of my dependents were under the age of 6 when I filed. I should’ve gotten the $600 stimulus for both but I only got it for one.

for the time being only enter what you received from the 1st payment - does Line 30 of Form 1040 show a number that you agree with? again, the 2nd payment is not programmed into TT yet.

if not,

1) how much did you receive for 1st and 2nd payments

2) did you file joint or single?

3) and you have the 2 children only, right?

post back and we can figure this out.
