I can't transmit my returns because of excess 401(k) contributions. Program asks to check, and it's correct. But I get in a loop of having to check and can't transmit.

I have the excess contributions paid back to me and correctly reported, and received a 1099-R.  I should be able to transmit, but I can't.

This link has the steps and at the very bottom, it says “Solution: Unfortunately at this time, customer with an excess contribution will need to print and mail, despite following the Steps to Take to Remove an Excess Salary Deferral as listed above.” You do not change the W2, so will just have to file by mail.
