I bought the software filled in everything, now efile wants me to fill it all in again, are you serious?!

So I buy Turbo Tax and intend to efile. I download it, fill out most of the categories, then click file an extension. And what does it do on May 17, 2021 - last day to file -- tells me it will print it for me and I can mail it. So I go online and try to e-file through Turbo Tax -- It wants me to fill every blasted category out all over again. It seems like a no brainer that e-file should take the information off the software you paid Turbo Tax $60 to get. What is up with that??!!

go to  IRS "Make a Payment" page and indicate payment is for an EXTENSION.

your request is approved immediately and you will get a confirmation number for your records.

I hunted and pecked around to discover Turbo Tax has an easy extension method. But your way sounds even easier and info you supplied will be most helpful to my panicked family member, who has not filed his yet. You rock! Thanks!
