Once you enter your 1095-A, TurboTax will automatically apply any Premium Tax Credit you qualify for.   You qualify for the credit if:

  • Your health insurance plan is purchased through Healthcare.gov or a state Marketplace.
  • Your household income falls between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level for your household size.
  • You don't file as Married Filing Separately (with exceptions for victims of domestic abuse and spousal abandonment).
  • You can't be claimed as a dependent by another person.

Where to enter your 1095-A - after entering your 1095-A, you can view Form 8962 to see how your credit, if any, is determined.

Did you enter your 1095-A as suggested by DawnC?  If not, you will need to enter the 1095-A in order to see if you qualify for the Premium Tax Credit.  This is the only rebate(credit) that would be available for insurance through the Marketplace on your federal return.

The ACA/1095-A questions are now found in the deductions and credits section under medical.

You can get there by typing 1095 in the search box and then click jump to or you can click

See All Tax Breaks
Show More next to medical
Start next to the Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A)
Walk through the steps to enter your 1095-A information

After you enter your 1095-A, TurboTax will let you know if you are eligible for the Premium Tax Credit.

You may qualify for some sort of premium tax credit if your income is less than 400% of the poverty level.  If you income is greater than 400% of poverty level, you are not eligible for the Premium Tax Credit.
