Please follow the steps below to enter the ST-556 in TurboTax Online:

  • Sign into your Online account and click the "Take me to my return" button and continue past the blue screen.
  • Go to Federal Taxes at the top, then Deductions and Credits.
  •  Then scroll down to "Estimates and Other Taxes paid"
  •  Next click Start/Revisit next to Sales Tax.
  • Then you will see "Sales Tax and Income Tax", then click Continue with Sales tax.
  • You will now see "How do you want to enter your Sales Tax Info".Select the Easyguide.
  • Next you will be asked to enter "where you lived" and the "dates."
  •  Then you will have to enter the Sales Tax rate where you lived then select Continue.
  •  The next  page will ask did you make any major purchases? Select Yes
  •  You will then enter your purchase information from your ST-556.

April.2021 - the instructions below are not helping much, as even the menu structure is not the same for my online taxes.
INterestingly the Search function which is usually quite helpful doesn't give many hits on ST-556.

In May/June of 2019, many questions and answers in the old AnswerXchange were ported to the new Community. Unfortunately, the dates for the original posts were reset to the date on which the questions and answers were carried over, meaning that the answer you found may be much older than what it appears.

Furthermore, the layout of the screens can vary somewhat from product to product.

I have just walked through the process using 2020 Premier Online, and "Go to Federal Taxes at the top, " should be "click on Federal on the left". Otherwise, after that point, with a little flexibility on your part, you should be able to follow the general instructions to enter the sales tax paid.

The sales tax is what you are trying to enter, right?
