I bought 2 software downloads from Amazon and can't open 2nd in applications; it reverts to purchase for son whose taxes I already filed. 2nd purchase was for other son

You only need one program.  The Desktop CD/Download program can do unlimited returns.  You should get a refund for the second one from Amazon.

All the Desktop CD/Download programs have all the same forms so you can use any version.

Are you sure you are using the download installed on your computer rather than logging in to an online account? Your post shows you are using the online product but the identifiers aren't always right.

To start another return go up to File-New Tax Return
Be sure to first save the first return with a name you can tell apart.  Go up to File-Save As.
