“Return claims a Solar and Wind Credit carryover” means you are claiming an unused solar and wind credit from a prior year on your 2022 New York return.

This credit carryover requires Form IT-218.1, which TurboTax does not support. You will have to complete this form by hand and attach it to your mailed return.

You can find this credit on the screen "Take a look at New York credits and taxes."

  • Scroll down to Your Home
  • Tap Unused Solar Energy Credit Carryover from Prior Years
  • There should be an amount in one of the years

My return claims 0.0 in all previous year but yet an error appears.   I am not attempting to make a past claim and I have 0 in all previous  years.   Yet I still get an error

Are you trying to claim the credit on the current year return? @dknorz
