You can use Turbotax software to file an extension. Type "extend" in the Find box on Turbotax, and it will walk you through the process. In forms, the extension form is # 4868. Turbotax Online has an easy Extension feature, but better to do the extension within the program so that it is properly set up when it is time to file the full tax return.
