I am setting up my 2024 returns and cannot transfer my data from 2023. Saved as instructed it is PDF format, 2024 .return wants different. How do I transfer old to new ?

No---you do not want to transfer a pdf.  You want the file called .tax2023

 

You need to do the transfer of 2023 to 2024 before you enter any 2024 information.
