HERE is a link for removing that from the program if needed.

You can also delete Form 5405 if it is not needed.

For TurboTax Desktop, switch to Forms (Upper right corner)

  • To Delete a Form  using TurboTax Online:
Select Tax Tools on the left side-bar
    Select Tools from that drop-down
Select “Delete a form” on the TOOLS CENTER screen
    Select Form 5404

What glitch?

Are you still living in the home where you got the credit?  If so, you need to make a payment.

If you moved out of the home, you were required to file form 5405 in the year you moved, that paid off the credit.  You don't owe any more, but if you didn't file the form to close out the credit, the IRS will think you still owe repayment.  If you tell turbotax you moved out, turbotax will not include a payment, but if the IRS thinks you still owe, they will reject for lack of payment.  You may need to file by mail this year and then file an amended return to close out the credit for the year you actually moved.

I have moved out of house for which I got credit/loan. I want to close by repayment.

Turbotax is not letting me file online. Error on the Repayment (5405)

did you move out during 2023 or a previous year?

If in 2023, then Turbotax should let you report that.  Are you having a specific problem with the form that we can investigate?

If you moved out prior to 2023, you need to file an amended return for the year you moved out that includes form 5405.  You don't owe a payment this year, but you may need to file by mail.  Even if you file the amended return right away, it won't be processed in time to allow you to e-file this year.

I moved in 2023. Error is in Repayment for 2023. I called IRS and got the exact amount for repayment. When I click transmit, Turbo Tax checks the form and end up at the same line of 5405, where there is repayment amount and highlights in Blue. Please help

You will either need to contact customer support by phone, so an agent can look at your exact file with you,

or

Go to the Support menu and select  "Send file to agent."  This will upload an anonymized version of your file to the tech support database and give you a token number.  Post the token number here.  That will allow a support person to know which file is yours when they look at the error, and they should be able to follow up by email.  However, I can't guarantee that I can find a support person on this board to look at your token (I can ask).  So if you want to know for certain that you have someone's attention, you may want to call in.
