I am not a first time filer but I got married in the US last year and my spouse has no income and has not ever filed. do I get credit for first time filer?

No, there is not a credit for first filers.

 

However, as you are married, you can file jointly with your spouse even if he/she has no income. You will pay less tax as the standard deduction is doubled at $24,400 and the tax rates are lower.
